We have had the pleasure of featuring Carley Varley quite extensively over the past couple of years (the search button above will help you trace that). Witnessing her transition from mellow pop to full-blown, fierce punk-rock, we grew fondly of the project release after release. Now, Varley unveils the title track from her latest EP, ‘Homesick’, and it’s – as expected – an absolute triumph.
For us, ‘Homesick’ completes the English creative’s transition into a fully-fledged pop-punk sensation, an artistic direction that works very well with her evocative, powerful and luscious vocals. Carley has found her authenticity, and that transpires, making her material relatable and highly alluring.
Lyrically, we are in introspective territories, with Varley often delving into her own struggles and dark moments, using them as a springboard for personal expression and self-empowerment. Someone out there will connect with such enlightened material, and frankly, that’s Carley Varley’s main strength: the ability to offer the listener a helping hand, making them feel less alone in the world.
