For Burn the Louvre, 2022 has definitely been a major year. The Canadian outfit set out with a simple plan: release a single each month, to then arrive at a complete album in December. And so they did! Right away (January ‘22), we were treated to their honest and relatable storytelling, drenched in folk and pop vibes. Preferring acoustic tones and simple percussions, the group has created a signature style, if you will, with guitars and vocals crowning it all.
Coming December, Burn the Louvre released the last piece of the puzzle, ‘Honolulu’, a track that closes the album with a slight change. While keeping true to everything we had previously heard, the track navigates nostalgic, slightly dark tones with a charming ukulele, highlighting Jordan Speare’s malleable lead vocals, evocative yet controlled.
Describing the inspiration behind the song, he explains: “Honolulu” is a song I wrote for my first girlfriend Gillian for her birthday. We’d always joked about running away to Honolulu one day, so I wrote this song about the idea of doing just that”. Listeners all around the world seem to be appreciating what the Canadian talents have been doing, with some of the singles racking up a fair amount of streams. It’s now time to appreciate ‘Silhouette’ as a complete album.
