Bryce Styan Returns with Uplifting and Dreamy Single ‘Cease To Lie’

It’s not our first rodeo with Bryce Styan. In fact, we celebrated ‘The Wilderness’ not long ago, describing it as “a wonderfully poignant listening experience”. Back then, the Canadian talent found refuge in evocative lyricism and soothing melodies, driving a slow-paced gem with a meaningful message. Things change, for Styan too. So much so that he’s now back with a more uplifting and energetic offering, a piece that showcases the project’s dreamier, more psychedelic side.

Built on indie-flavoured guitars and brilliant, catchy songwriting, ‘Cease To Lie’ is the record that reminds us about Bryce’s eclectic character, a style that fits him very well. Clocking up at around four minutes, ‘Cease To Lie’ builds up and then slows down, going from a full-band blow-out to quieter piano chords, only to then gradually explode into a lush and shoegaze-like outro. What more could you ever want?

As always, Styan explores themes of loss, love and hope, simply initiating an introspective journey into human consciousness – one that he deeply relates to. As the Canadian creative sings in ‘Cease To Lie’: “Anything that anyone has ever said is not enough, so cease to lie under the skies and loosen up”.
