Bryan Yurcan Shares Nostalgic EP ‘Round the Bend’

He’s very clear about what he stands for; writing songs and navigating where artistic expression takes him. We can appreciate the honesty: Bryan Yurcan doesn’t hide behind flashy slogans or industry trends, instead pursuing lyrical authenticity and musical honesty. It’s frankly refreshing – the American troubadour manages to craft material that’s nuanced and meaningful, yet accessible and relatable. It’s not a quality that everybody has.

‘Round the Bend’ is Yurcan’s latest effort. A 4-track EP, the record finds its sonic character in semi-acoustic folk with a strong Americana flavouring. Featuring polite drums and percussions, stomping rhythms and the occasional electric guitar solo (‘Banana Peel’), ‘Round the Bend’ is as quirky and original as it could, taking Bryan’s charming and confident vocals to the forefront of attention.

We love the way he delivers his lines: often there’s a sort of ‘nostalgic cowboy’ energy into it, making it quite palatable for the average listener. Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Yurcan explains: “These songs are about the suburban pastoral life, and how often fragmented memories of the past influence our present.”
