At the beginning of this year, I discovered the Austin-based heavy metal duo Bridges Ablaze. They had just released a high-octane banger called ‘Hellbent‘, and I fell incredibly hard for the tune! With the track now nearing 500,000 plays on Spotify, I clearly wasn’t the only one. Since then they’ve gone on to release three more singles, and today we’re going to dive into their most recent, ‘Heartbroken Angel’. Not known to shy away from hard-hitting subjects, Bridges Ablaze tell the tale of a young woman’s struggles with her inner demons, and her eventual tragic decision to end her life. The song also addresses the suffering experienced by the survivors of suicide, and the heartbreaking reality that one tragedy often leads to another.
Sonically, ‘Heartbroken Angel’ is yet another powerful and uncompromising treat from Brien Allen and Ruben Zamora. It goes hard straight from the off and doesn’t let up for a second, wrapping you in a blanket of thumping hard rock and immersing you in a raw energy that is simply inescapable!
Establishing themselves as more than just another band, Bridges Ablaze are becoming a voice for all those who struggle with their emotional and mental health. Surely the world could do with a few more acts like them.
