Showcasing his talent release after release, Bonze could be described as a sort of best-kept-secret. Known in London and by a few cool peeps on the internet, the British singer and songwriter deserves way more, especially given his mindblowing musical output, a charming and emotional gooey made up of cutting-edge electronica and dark vocals. Crowning an artistic partnership with Sun Scout’s Fred Clough, Bonze presents his latest effort ‘Out Of My Hands’, a passionate and introspective look into everything we simply can’t control. Through a slow-paced, poignant arrangement, the listener deals with accepting the possibility that certain things are just beyond our dominion.
Sonically, the single is a wonderful example of indie eclecticism, blending fuzzy guitars with understated electronica. Echoing the likes of Jai Paul, Metronomy and The 1975, among others, Bonze puts to good use the modern trend of mixing emo and alt-rock sentiments with pop and electronica: the perfect recipe for a delicious slice of musical goodness.
Not just a fast-rising musician, Bonze is a psychotherapist by day and an artist by night. His music is steeped in emotion and experience, reflecting the more than a decade-long journey he has taken towards musical excellence. Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, he explains: “Out Of My Hands’ is about how sometimes, no matter how hard you try, no matter what you do; some things just aren’t within your control and you have to let the powers that be decide for you.”
