Blynd Birds Would Like To Offer You ‘Songs To Sink Yachts To’

We don’t have a lot of information on the Blynd Birds, but they seem to be quite explicit about what their goal is. Namely, sinking millionaire Yachts. Can you relate? We are sure you can. You know, the wealthy etc. So, let us tell you about the Blynd Birds; emerging from Austin, Texas, the trio focus on a personal, malleable brand of rock, floating between alt-rock, surf influences, and mellow pop-rock. At the centre of their artistry, we find the group’s refined and idealistic songwriting, conveying messages about our broken reality.

The project’s latest effort is a long album, ‘Songs To Sink Yachts To’. Released earlier this summer, the record reaches us after a two years hiatus, marking a new phase for the Texan rockers. So, what can you expect from them?

Well, quite a lot in fact. You might find similar-psychedelic numbers such as ‘Hand In The Till’, building on retro keys and fuzzy guitars, or you could get lost in the poignancy of ballads the likes of ‘Hate for Hire’. Although sonic references are often interchangeable, what’s not is the depth of the songwriting, always on the money and perfectly suited for the group’s evocative lead vocals.

Passing through alt-rock tropes and dazzling anthems, you’ll arrive at ‘The Otter & The Fox’, a charming folk-like jewel, delivered to the listeners with honest and heartfelt lyricism, just guitars and vocals. Do not overlook the intro and the outro, revealing a glimpse of quirkiness.
