Refusing to let go of the playful summer spirit, London-based electro outfit blueblueblue unveils a vibrant and elegant record, ‘takeover’. Built over bouncy and glitchy beats with a certain bubbly quality, the single favours uplifting EDM stylings with a sprinkled of leftfield coolness, making for a track that will likely appeal to a broad spectrum of listeners. It’s not overly mainstream, and not too niche.
A fuzzy collection of vocal samples helps ‘takeover’ reach higher sonic territories, together with a distinct disco and funk flavouring. We’d say there’s a retro component too, although, eventually, the record sounds as fresh and contemporary as it could. Simply put, it’s a banger. Certainly no complaints on our behalf!
