Building on their 2021 stunning debut ‘Under The Sun’, Blitz Playhouse is the latest dreamy and indie/new-wave outfit to emerge from the British capital. Exhibiting a theatrical flair together with luscious and mysterious imagery, they have certainly caught our attention. Combine that with their new offering ‘Favourite Ghost’, and what you get is a really, really promising project that’s as euphoric as it is hypnotizing.
Built on a plethora of influences, ‘Favourite Ghost’ goes from spacious shoegaze tones to psychedelic intensity, passing through icy new wave-like female vocals and a laid-back, playful quality which sees Blitz Playhouse in full control of their style and identity. Honestly, the track gives out a much more mature impression than the project’s pedigree would suggest. If this is the basis they are building on, we are in for great things – look out for the duo’s upcoming EP, ‘Behind The Veil’.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Blitz Playhouse explains: “The words feel emotionally intimate and imagistic throughout, with an emphasis on building gratitude for the hard lessons in life”.
