Blind Man’s Daughter Unveil Prog Metal Masterpiece ‘Sundressed’

We really enjoyed our travels in ‘Sundressed’. There’s something quite evocative and addicting in the record’s near-perfect vocals, complex guitar riffing and modern sound. Penned by New Mexico-based progressive metal outfit Blind Man’s Daughter, the album won’t likely be for everyone, but if eclectic metal progressive vibes are your thing, this is a release you want to get on quickly… trust us on that! The project stems from the genius mind of founder and lead singer Ashley Wolfe, developing the artistry behind BMD over the years and while travelling across America.

Well, ‘Sundressed’ is the definite manifesto of everything the project stands for. Reminding us of the likes of Mars Volta and Tool, among others, the album is certainly eclectic and technically proficient, but with taste and meaning. Exactly what you’d call melodic progressive metal. The convoluted arrangements serve Wolfe’s lyricism completely, helping her build lyrical images that feel strong and memorable.

Now based in Albuquerque, Blind Man’s Daughter seem determined to rise to the top, and frankly, ‘Sundressed’ has all the right cards to stand out from the rest. A worthy discovery.
