Hauling from Portland, Blake Yung is not your typical upcoming artist. In fact, he’s already a reality, with almost 50k monthly listeners on Spotify alone and a plethora of illustrious collaborations. The latest in a wave of talented rappers to hit the American airwaves, Yung showcases a certain flair for eclecticism, delving into rap and hip-hop territories with elegance and taste. ‘Next’ is Blake’s latest effort, a collaborative work with benny mayne and grammy nominated producer Eric Von.
Over an immaculate beat, ‘Next’ develops its melancholic and complex storyline, contrasting a rather minimal instrumental with Yung’s charming and evocative vocals, here delivered with authority and full control. benny mayne’s witty tone contrasts gracefully with Blake’s more earthy and deep vocal texture.
