There’s always been a great deal of artistic research behind Blak Emoji’s enlightened musical output. A visionary and a sonic wizard, the American creative champions a transformative brand of electronica and leftfield stylings, blending the retro and the futuristic in one sole alluring package. Now, Black Emoji teams up with ECR Music Group to re-issue ‘Antidote’ – one of the project’s most pristine albums to date – in a deluxe version, including a stunning rendition of ‘Home Computer’ from legendary German trailblazers Kraftwerk.
Re-mastered and restored by ECR founder Blake Morgan, ‘Antidote’ serves as a reminder of the timeless nature of Blak Emoji’s work. It still sounds incredibly contemporary, in fact, it could be coming straight from an alternative universe – the album just exists in its own reality. It works: from avant-garde, textural and glitching pieces, to more atmospheric and spacious anthems, the record provides a listening experience that’s enlightening and highly educational.
Speaking about the choice of including ‘Home Computer’ in the album re-issue, the New York-based talent explains: “It’s a tribute to a band who heavily inspired me and countless other musicians sonically. I also felt covering this particular track for Antidote made sense since it fits hand in glove within the album’s theme: one that feels like an apocalyptic movie score, and the movie’s our bizarre reality.”
