Blackpool Mecca Gear Up for Upcoming EP with ‘Pavement’

A fierce, vigorous and fuzzy record, ‘Pavement’ is as vibrant as one could wish for. Penned by Nashville-based duo Blackpool Mecca, the record signals once again the potential those guys are sitting on. Gearing up for an upcoming EP – ‘The Long Goodbye’, the group uses ‘Pavement’ to share clues about upcoming music, leaving a ‘crumb trail’ that will inevitably take the listeners into Blackpool Mecca’s hypnotising sonic universe.

Built on tight guitar distortions that one would normally hear in a QOTSA album, ‘Pavement’ flourishes on punchy and driving drum grooves, layering fuzzy tones and crunchy textures with ease. Even the vocals are driven to their maximum, making for a record that’s striking and hard-hitting, yet extremely catchy and anthemic.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, Blackpool Mecca explain: “The lyrics draw from relationships in which you tell yourself everything is okay and you keep on trying to make it work despite ultimately knowing that you’ve got to take your separate paths in life”. I don’t know about you, but we at Mesmerized are hooked! Looking forward to further releases during the year.
