There’s such a strong elegance contained in ‘A Symphony Of Shadows’; an overwhelmingly angelic, ethereal and soothing character that wraps the listeners in cathartic energy and blissful lusciousness. The latest album by Danish duo BlackieBlueBird, the record is rather leftfield and alternative, yet still oriented to a wider audience.
The keen reader might remember us writing about the pair’s previous album ‘Grace & Gravity’, praised as “constantly oscillating between soothing resolution and sharp romanticism, providing an emotional rollercoaster listeners won’t be able to forget anytime soon”. We stand by our words, and while ‘A Symphony Of Shadows’ is inherently hazier and mysterious, it still carries BlackieBlueBird’s unmistakable artistic identity.
Driving the record towards spacious, dream-pop territories, Heidi Lindahl lends her hypnotising and vaporous vocals to the cause, really supercharging Nils Lassen’s eclectic and nostalgic compositions. Together, the pair feels like a perfect fit, complementing each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
