“This is our third and best release so far”. These are the words of San Diego-based three-piece birthdayboy, who recently unleashed ‘Tamagotchi’, an infectious electro-pop tune that deals with toxic relationships. Penned by the band’s leader Alyssa Rodriguez, ‘Tamagotchi’ juxtaposes gut-wrenching lyrics with a fun and energetic soundscape that sticks in your head like a piece of chewing gum under a desk. Dripping in synthy goodness and autotuned vocals, it’s a track that draws on inspiration from the likes of Dominic Fike, Halsey, Billie Eilish, and Gus Dapperton.
“‘Tamagotchi’ is about toxic relationships built primarily on this addiction to others even though they are bad to us and vice versa,” says Alyssa. “It’s about treating people who love us badly because they don’t leave and just needing a healthy connection to ourselves and those around us”.
Alongside her two bandmates known only as Ellie and Marc, who perform in ski masks to hide their identities, Rodriguez is an artist who wears her heart on her sleeve. Through honest storytelling and emotive songwriting, she delves into the complexities of human relationships, self-reflection, and the journey towards inner peace.
With a bright future ahead of them, we cannot wait to hear more from this talented bunch!
