Devon-based singer/songwriter Billie Maree is another ridiculously gifted artist who appears to be seizing her moment in 2023. Her latest single ‘We Belong’ showcases the musician’s ethereal and otherworldly artistry, and it serves as Billie’s third official release to date. This haunting folk-pop tune, rich and tender in approach, sees Maree “exploring the edges of darkness” with poetic lyricism and a deeply resonant message. Inspired by all the strength of her female-bodied friends, it’s a track that sends out an invitation – and encourages people to discover their sense of belonging, that sadly elusive universal feeling.
It was actually fellow writer Gabriel Mazza who first turned me on to Maree’s music. Her debut single ‘Whale Eyes‘ was a soothing and evocative song that blew us both away, and she’s been meeting and exceeding our expectations ever since! There’s nothing quite like discovering a musician in their musical infancy. It’s new and exciting and you just can’t wait to see where the journey will go.
Always a free spirit, Billie has lived and worked in Australia, the US, India, and the Far East. She’s a trained yoga teacher, an experienced vegan chef, and now a proud new artist who is beginning to turn ears. With a full album planned for release next month, the anticipation is mounting!
