BIAS reworks a Jon Brion piece on ‘Amsterdam’

Last year, the Italian-based musician and producer BIAS released a spellbinding cover version of Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’. I instantly fell in love with the track and have been patiently waiting for his next release. Luckily, a few days ago, BIAS answered my wishes in the form of ‘Amsterdam’, his brand new single. Reworking a Jon Brion tune called ‘Phone Call’ that featured heavily in the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, BIAS decides to swap strings for synthesisers. He also introduces the famous Roland TR-808 drum machine to the mix, and distorts his vocals to, in his words, “underline the state of anguish in which the song’s lyrics were written”

Standing at just one minute and forty-five seconds long, ‘Amsterdam’ is a beautifully eclectic fusion of synthwave, electro-pop, and emo rap. It’s a refreshing and unique track that perfectly showcases BIAS’ ability as a producer, songwriter, lyricist, and rapper.

BIAS released six singles last year and if ‘Amsterdam’ is a sign of things to come, music fans are in for a treat this year! We can’t wait to hear what the talented musician comes up with next!

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Amsterdam’ on Spotify now:
