In a world of extreme standardisation, we are always in need of visionaries, people capable of breaking free from social and technical conventions while creating something entirely unique and authentic. After all, that’s the only way society – and art – can progress. By finding the odd and the strange, and making it the norm. Berlin sound alchemist Lump200 knows it very well, having championed their experimental blend of electronica and sound design since the 90s.
Boasting a plethora of albums and singles under their belt, the project navigates acoustic inputs and electronic outputs, blending traditional instruments such as tuba and vibraphone with abstract soundscapes and generative frequencies. Lucky for us, Lump200 is not done yet: ‘Kryptomarch’ is the Geman outfit’s latest single, a deep dive into subtle IDM, orchestral references and tribal rhythms. The result is absolutely outstanding, showcasing once again the breaking force of the Berlin resident.
The single is part of a bigger record, coming in Spring 2023. With it, listeners will also be introduced to Islesofyou, an open and inclusive platform that allows users to record and publish audio on a matrix, which can then be edited and shared as widgets. Developed by Lump200 and partners Gravity&Storm.
