Bending Grid Shares Nostalgic Banger ‘Phoenix’

As a keen vaporwave lover, I quickly jumped at the chance to feature ‘Phoenix (Instrumental)’, an expansive, luscious piece with heightened whimsical character and a fearless 80s-flavoured beat. Echoing popular chillwave and synthwave staples such as ‘Home’ by Resonance, ‘Phoenix’ pursues the same formula, contrasting spacious, vaporous synth tones to punchier, more substantial grounding elements. For the keen listener, there’s also a version with vocals on it.

Such a creative concoction of sound evokes a playful ‘road trip’ ethos, with the record carrying the listener forward – just in a floaty, ethereal kind of way. Behind such a piece, we find American producer Bending Grid. Hailing from Summerville, South Carolina, he’s showcased time and time again what he’s capable of, thanks to a substantial catalogue of past releases.
