Ben Murphy Returns with Contemplative Gem ‘I Don’t Recognise You’

Last year, we at Mesmerized fell deeply in love with a tune called ‘The Edge’. Courtesy of Hertfordshire-based singer/songwriter Ben Murphy, it was a track we labelled as a “majestic and truly emotional anthem.” Now, nearing 40,000 plays on Spotify, it’s clear we weren’t the only ones who connected so deeply with the song.

His follow-up to ‘The Edge’ was a tune called ‘Seven Lines’ which has also received critical acclaim, but today I’d like to introduce you to his brand new single ‘I Don’t Recognise You’. Let’s dive in shall we?

A folk-tinged indie-pop piece, ‘I Don’t Recognise You’ shines a light on the fragility of connection, something that so many silently grapple with. From the fading connection between lovers to the hopeful gaze of a child reaching out to a distant father, Murphy digs deep into the raw emotions that surface when connections begin to fade. As we’ve mentioned before, he’s an artist who wears his heart firmly on his sleeve, unafraid of exploring complex and unsettling issues.

As far as vocal performances go, Murphy’s heartfelt and emotive delivery cuts straight to the soul. A simply spellbinding execution, it exemplifies why Ben Murphy is poised for remarkable success. With BBC Introducing behind him and headlining shows around London, don’t miss this up-and-coming sensation!
