Belum Unveil Evocative Single ‘Twins’ feat. Horace Andy

Honestly, we weren’t expecting ‘Twins’ to be this good. But here we are: featuring the legendary Horace Andy (Massive Attack), the record is a curious and cathartic specimen. Intense and obscure in its sonic character, the track is then counteracted by Amalia Small’s dreamy, ethereal vocals. Such a contrast contributes to the aura of mystery and veiled melancholia that surrounds the record.

Penned and produced by Tel Aviv-based duo Belum (Tal Eshel and Nitzan Oppenheimer), ‘Twins’ finds its unique identity through a mix of trip-hop, electronica and dream-pop, managing to entice the leftfield listener as well as the mainstream one. The outro is as glorious as they come, with a Massive Attack-esque guitar riff layered onto decadent piano and cinematic drums. The result is a crescendo that’s irresistible and catchy.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Belum explains: “It honours the roots of trip-hop while pushing the genre into a new territory”. Exactly that: ‘Twins’ does feel familiar, but also futuristic and particular. That’s what really engaged us in the project; looking forward to hearing more!
