We particularly appreciate the way ‘Indigo’ is able to wrap magic around the listeners; boasting a truly ethereal and expansive character, the record is as hypnotising as it could be, especially thanks to long textures and soundscapes, laidback trip-hop grooves and an overall sprinkle of downtempo energy. In fact, there’s something nostalgic in it, especially in the vocal samples during the breakdown – it’s a tune that could as well come from the late 90s.
Instead, it calls Bristol its creative home. Crafted by talented indie outfit avOva and fellow singer Nalarié, the record is certainly inspired by the British city’s illustrious musical history, delving as much into Trip-hop as it does into wider electronica and downtempo stylings. Eventually, the listener’s attention is completely stolen by Nalarié’s evocative and luscious vocals, a wonderful sonic gift for any keen music lover.
‘Indigo’ anticipates avOva’s upcoming EP, releasing later this year via autowerkz. If the current single is anything to go by, we are in for a fantastic collection of new music, something that’s very probable, taking into account how good ‘Indigo’ is!
