When it comes to Austin Carr, one should appreciate the honesty and authenticity of his songwriting. Drawing from personal experience, the Los Angeles-based songster explores the complexity of relationships and human behaviours, proudly trying to highlight the root cause of every conflict. ‘Tame Me?’ follows the same script, and as Carr’s latest release, it also showcases the constant growth the project has endured in the past year.
In fact, Austin is gearing up for an EP, ‘Saturn Attacks’, expected in the near future. ‘Tame Me?’ is the first extract from it, and it’s pretty majestic. An elegant, controlled offering, the single builds on charming and modern indie pop, with a strong 80s-flavoured electronic component and groovy drums. The result is an evocative and brilliant piece that doesn’t fail to woo listeners into the project.
Speaking about the record, Carr explains: “I originally wrote this song more as an emotional release than anything else, and kind of assumed I’d never record it. It’s a pretty big departure for me, as an upbeat, flirty pop song with overt sexual themes.”
