This is a pretty inspiring story. A story of redemption and resilience, and the evidence of how music is never really done with us – it merely takes breaks. Dolan Hewison knows it well: after having championed an exciting career in his early years, namely as the guitarist for New Fast Automatic Daffodils, the Manchester-based creative found his way back into the trade, 25 years later, thanks to the pandemic and a loop pedal.
Championing a trajectory similar to many other pandemic-powered projects, Hewison set up Au-Turn, his current project, as a way to express himself and his newly-found creative streak. The results are for everyone to see, for instance in Au-Turn’s latest effort, ‘I Walk In Capitals’. In it, the keen listener will find traces of 80s new wave, soft-rock and everything in between, with the record also showcasing guest singer Tracy Godding’s evocative and dynamic vocals.
Taken from Au-Turn’s debut album ‘No. 1’, ‘I Walk In Capitals’ explores the depth of human consciousness through the years, perhaps serving as a way to celebrate existence – something Hewison will know a lot about.
