Atticus Roness Celebrates Power Pop in Latest Single

If Atticus Roness’ 2023 album ‘Square One’ told us anything, it’s that he’s perfectly capable of indulging in tender melodies and soothing instrumental matter. He then took a rather… rowdier approach last year, with double single ‘The Man With No Name/Napa Valley Suicide’ packed with fuzzy guitar and post-rock energy. It seems that Roness has now managed to blend those two extremes into a cohesive, exciting package: cue the latest single ‘Not The One (I’m Looking For)’.

In it, the keen listener will rejoice in the lush, elegant power-pop livery and the many vocal harmonies delivered by Roness’ dynamic, evocative tone. Comparisons to the likes of The Beatles could be made pretty quickly, yet there’s way more here. In fact, the pop component is equally balanced by a modern flair for indie guitars and veiled grunge references, a sign that even Atticus cannot escape the records he grew up listening to – and history in general.

‘Not The One (I’m Looking For)’ anticipates a full-length release in April, ‘Power Pop World Domination’. Judging from what we have heard so far, we are in for a treat! Speaking about the record, Roness explains: “Done right, power pop is too pop for rock and too rock for pop, but just right in the end,” Roness explains. “This album is my way of bringing its soaring guitars and harmonies back to the forefront.”
