Atlanta Duo The Corduroy Blue Unveils Eclectic Debut Album

Emerging from Atlanta, The Corduroy Blue have showcased themselves as one of the most interesting newcomers. While championing a ‘rocker’ perspective, they are also not afraid to delve into melodious pop and theatre-flavoured kaleidoscopic pieces. For the group, music is also a family matter, with brothers Atticus & Luke Roness driving the duo forward towards stardom.

Debuting in 2020, they took some time to regroup, coming back this year with an album in mind and a plethora of singles to ease us into it. The results have now matured, with their homonym long-length record having found the light of day. Boasting 11 tracks, ‘The Corduroy Blue’ can be seen as the band’s artistic manifesto, a safe space where the Atlanta talents open themselves up to the listeners.

There’s something for everyone in the record. From punchy rock gems such as ‘Fight The Tears’ and ‘Bye Bye Love’, to Beatlesian blends, the likes of ‘Her Majesty’ and ‘The Death of Me’. Pop is very much present too, with the Roness brothers showcasing their refined, nuanced songwriting on ‘A Hitman’s Request’, among others. It’s interesting to observe the constant contrast between anthemic, poignant theatrical songwriting and more gritty, distorted rocky tunes.

A complete project, the Corduroy Blue could go anywhere from here, really. They are just so talented.
