Astro-Lloyd Get Inspired By the Early ‘00 in ‘LOUD NOISES’

Lately, there’s been a resurgence of all things early 2000’. As someone that has lived his teenage years through that era, I feel rather weirded out by it, because I am not ready to consider it retro, yet. But – there are good things coming from this phenomenon. For example, Swedish alt-rock outfit Astro-Lloyd. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Green Day and My Chemical Romance, among others, the band manage to deliver a sound that feels fresh and nostalgic at the same time, while exhibiting fierceness and unfiltered euphoria.

Describing the band as “four drummers and a bass player who play alternative space rock”, Astro-Lloyd makes it clear they are not here to follow the mainstream. Instead, they pursue their own path, on a mission to bring a certain raw energy and proud authenticity back into the alt-rock scene.

‘LOUD NOISES’ is the group’s latest album, a likeable gut in the punch, delivered with gravitas and charisma. Lyrically, the Swedish talents embark on a journey through TV and movies’ cultural references, closing the circle on a record that feels anchored in its own reality, letting listeners join freely. Perhaps they offer us a means of escaping our dire and dramatic reality. We’ll take it.
