In fact, one of her previous singles, ‘Bulletproof’, reached #1 on the New Music Weekly AM/FM radio chart, while also peaking at #1 on the international iTunes sales charts. Not to mention the 2022 International Singer Songwriter Association (ISSA) Award that Puckett got awarded for best US Female Emerging Artist.
It is clear by now that Puckett is here to stay; after an artistic hiatus lasting almost two years, the project returns with a classic and heartwarming country bop. Written together with Andrew Douglas and Nathan Beatty, ‘Tequila’ represents a personal look into the Pensilvanyan’s personal experience. Framed into a contemporary production, Ashley’s evocative and precise vocals navigate a tune that’s already looking like an instant classic.

Describing the meaning behind the song, Puckett explains: “This song was written from a place of almost desperation for answers and just wanting to throw in the towel to love; a traditional country song where a girl has a conversation with, well, tequila. It starts with thinking too much, and as the night unfolds, the liquor does what it does.”
