Árstíðir (Icelandic for Seasons) has been around the scene for quite some time now. With two #1 singles in Iceland and a devoted, cult-like following, the band have recently returned with a beautiful, cinematic new single called ‘Later On’. You could label it as indie-pop, indie-folk, soft rock…Whatever you like really. And that’s the beauty and genius of ‘Later On’. This is how Árstíðir has won over so many fans worldwide – with genuine, compelling, and fresh songwriting.
The song, like so many in recent times, was born out of the once-in-a-century worldwide pandemic, and the band call it a “prayer of the impatient heart, articulating the dilemma experienced by every human being for the past two years”. The gentle piano opening sets the scene perfectly and serves as the ideal vehicle for ‘Later On’ to slowly turn into an upbeat, cinematic, and anthemic masterpiece.
The tune is the first to be released from Árstíðir’s upcoming seventh (yes seventh!) full-length album entitled ‘BLIK’. Scheduled for release sometime in March of next year, the good news is that there is so much Árstíðir to dive into and enjoy in the meantime! What a wonderful discovery. What a fantastic band. And what a cracking track!
