Ari Joshua Teams Up with Mell Dettmer on ‘One Dub’ EP

A highly productive musician, Ari Joshua has risen to be a prominent figure in the Seattle jazz scene; it’s not just about his incredible musicianship and technical ability on the guitar – he’s also become a sort of cultural figure, putting ensembles together and showcasing fellow talents. That’s an important ethos in his activities, one that can also be found in ‘One Dub’ EP, containing a series of remixes by Mell Dettmer of Studio Soli, based on Joshua’s previously released Dub track.

In it, the keen listener will find the most charming and laidback dub reggae elements, from sleazy drums to pesky guitars, passing through an alluring organ and a plethora of textures and delays. Featuring John Morgan, Eden Ladin and Andy Hess, the EP is an open book on their nuanced musicianship and instrumental abilities, a new addition to an already impressive list of musical achievements.

Other personnel involved in the record can be found in mixer Jonathan Plum and engineer Alex Conroy, with Mell Dettmer having the final say on the remixes in the EP. Catch Ari Joshua live on the following upcoming gig (ticket links on his website, link below):
