Apple Shakers Return with Fierce and Fresh EP ‘Blood, Sweat & Broke’

It might sound like pompous talk, but Apple Shakers might just be the electric shock that the rock British scene needs. A breaking force in the industry, the duo champions a unique and fierce, almost radical sonic formula, with Rory White taking care of guitar and vocals, while Basil Steiner triumphs on drums and synths. It is this strange instrumental alchemy that allows them to stand out from the rest, blending fast-paced guitar riffs with primal and punchy drum grooves, including a healthy dose of synth-powered bass frequencies.

The result is music that’s unforgettable, hard-hitting and charmingly energetic. ‘Blood, Sweat & Broke’ is the strongest evidence of that: the group’s latest EP, it explores the critical angles of modern living, embraced by the group’s playful lyricism and high relatability. A five-track intense journey that balances between furious punch and more evocative gems – for instance, we could compare ‘Storm’, a dark and emotional ballad, with opener ‘Modern Man’, a louder and more lively exhibit.

Describing the inspiration behind the songs, Apple Shakers firmly explain how the EP aims to  “paint a somewhat bleak outlook on its subject matter, covering a narrative of the current modern social and working landscape. It is also encompassed by youthful hope and energy, with a can-do attitude, laughing through the tears.”
