It’s also proven to be a fantastic strategy for augmenting your audience on streaming services. Naturally, ANTi and SCi-FY found their common ground in music, joining forces on a stunning slice of electro-pop, ‘Close To You’. The record is as good as it could be, navigating retro-flavoured and synthwave territories, echoing pop superstars such as The Weeknd and Chromeo.
It’s a bright, euphoric triumph. The pace is fast, the sonic picture kaleidoscopic and fierce, boasting rolling synth arpeggiator, punchy drums and 80s-flavoured bells. The perfect framework for ANTi’s dynamic and luscious vocals. The production is a collaborative effort between the two Nashville talents, showcasing their impressive musicianship skills in the process.
Lyrically, the song explores the hypnotising and electrifying feeling of meeting a new lover. As the duo explains: “We wanted to embody the feeling of instant infatuation with a new person in the middle of a chaotic club,” says ANTi of the lyrics, “it’s driven by physical chemistry but also by the curiosity to know someone who seems untouchable. We wanted to drop the listener into the middle of a movie scene”.
