Anthony Benjamin Takes You On An 80’s Infused Escapism Dream With ‘Rainfall’

North London artist Anthony Benjamin has been vigorously sharing his music, having already released 11 singles and an EP since 2020. In addition to being an artist, the self-taught musician creates tracks for online music catalogues, which explains Benjamin’s keen ear for soundtrack-like compositions and themes that comes across in his own releases.

Benjamin’s latest release ‘Rainfall’ is what he calls “a soundtrack to escapism”, delivering a paradisiacal take on retro pop with dreamy synth sounds and rhythmic instrumentation. The solo artist’s style reminds me distinctively of English pop duo Pet Shop Boys, with an upbeat flamboyant 80’s flare, and slightly electronic, smooth-sounding vocals.

Clearly appealing to synth-pop fans, Benjamin’s creative vision comes across effortlessly as he experiments with different producers to bring his vision to life and hone his musical language. On his latest single, the artist worked with producer Peter Cattermole to combine his catchy lyrics with an ethereal track embodying the perfect amount of retro cheese along with his own personal touch.

Although Benjamin is in the early stages of his career, his ambition to climb the ladder, along with his passion to share his musical vision with as many people as possible, is undeniable, and I’m certain we’ll be hearing more from the synth-pop artist in the near future.
