Annie and the Jays Deliver Another Rich New Single with ‘Too Shallow’

Edinburgh-based indie-rockers Annie and the Jays are very much still newcomers to the scene, but you’d never know that upon listening to their first two singles. The band debuted in May this year with ‘If You Wanted To Would You’, a tune we proudly labelled “evocative, nostalgic and incredibly vibrant”. Now, the outfit returns with ‘Too Shallow’, a rich and expertly constructed indie-rock track that has the potential to propel the act to exciting new heights.

Melodic and infectious, Annie and the Jays’ latest release relies on an acoustic-driven soundscape for its majority, until Roddy Sneddon comes along with one of the most hypnotic little electric guitar solos I’ve ever heard. Annie, once again, puts on a stellar vocal performance, and effortlessly carries the song’s energy from start to finish. It’s really just perfect all-round!

In their breakout year, the band have already played the iconic King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow and two sold-out headlining shows at The Voodoo Rooms in their home city. They’re undoubtedly onto something quite sonically special, and I can’t wait to hear what they get up to next!
