Earlier this year, Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter and producer Anna Thoresen floated into my world with a laidback and soulful slice of RnB brilliance called ‘MARY JANE’. It was a confessional and candid piece of music that really resonated with me, and I’ve been patiently waiting to hear from Anna again. Thankfully, last month, she answered my calls.
‘DEAR SOULMATE’ is Thoresen’s brand new tune and her heartfelt ode to the concept of soulmates. A track the artist has dedicated two years to, ‘DEAR SOULMATE’ marks the first time Anna has written, produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered an entire song on her own. “I had several people try to mix the song and add their own spin,” she says. “But nothing stuck as well as my own mix”.
Sonically, ‘DEAR SOULMATE’ is very different compared to ‘MARY JANE’. It goes down a more dreamy, upbeat, and indie-pop lane…a surprising yet welcome shift that showcases Thoresen’s versatility as a musician.
Released just over a month ago, ‘DEAR SOULMATE’ is already Anna’s most-played track on Spotify. Racing towards 13,000 plays and beyond, it’s abundantly clear her music is starting to gain traction and resonate. We’re not surprised one bit!
