‘Because of the Rain’ is the delicious first full-length project from Chattanooga-based indie singer/songwriter Anna Baldree. Described as a “mini album”, ‘Because of the Rain’ features eight original tunes that offer the listener a glimpse into the life, thoughts, and headspace of Baldree throughout 2020 and 2021. It’s a beautifully eclectic and diverse collection of tracks sonically, as the musician weaves between soft, folky pop and classic, guitar-driven indie-rock.
Lyrically, Baldree explores timeless themes of unrequited love, loneliness, anxiety, and depression. This makes sense really, as her initial pursuit of music began while quarantining at home with her family during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Towards the end of last year, Baldree introduced herself to the world with her debut single called ‘Try Again’, a song that instantly resonated with online music critics and local radio stations alike. Then came ‘Final Girl’ in early 2022, a stunning tune that allows for Anna’s incredible vocals to take front and centre.
Both of these songs, along with the brand new single ‘Tarantino’, are featured on ‘Because of the Rain’. We’re falling pretty hard for this incredible artist and her debut album, and we can’t wait to hear what next she has in store!
