An incredible piece of music, ‘Parallel Lines’ is so much better than we would have ever imagined. Built on expansive, soulful indie pop with a certain dreamy quality to it, the record sees Californian outfit Animal Prince do what they do best, aka creating ethereal, cathartic sonic panoramas with a strong lyrical counterpart.
One thing that stands out from ‘Parallel Lines’ is the group’s immersive and nostalgic vocal harmonies. Fae Nageon is the talented singer behind them, also lending her artistic flair to the many violins appearing throughout the single. The string addition contributes to giving the song tons of elegance and charisma. Grant McLeod completes the lineup, taking care of piano and percussion duties.
‘Parallel Lines’ is taken from Animal Prince’s debut album, ‘Have Good Dreams’, out now. Speaking about the inspiration behind it, the pair explain: “We had an epiphany that our internal experience is the only thing we can control. The outside world is more than happy to project its chaos onto you. But you’re entirely responsible for your own experience of this life, and you deserve to have a good one”.
