A debut is a bold, courageous moment, one that often comes with a certain amount of doubts and fears – the artist might feel rather vulnerable to that. Up-and-coming songstress Angelica has trusted the process, so far, and rightly so; boasting luscious, evocative vocals and a knack for vivid, relatable songwriting, the NYC-based musician has recently debuted her first single, ‘Lincoln pIace’.
In it, we find all the pop prowess Angelica has to offer. Built on a bubbly and dreamy electronic pop livery, ‘Lincoln place’ finds its meaningful nature in familiar, personal storytelling, here taken from the young creative’s own experience. Sharing a certain R&B flair, the single is also catchy and contemporary, contrasting nostalgic, painful lyricism with a brilliant, anthemic production.
An ode to lost, unrequited love, ‘Lincoln place’ seeks to highlight the fleeting nature of attraction, at times very deceitful. As Angelica explains: “I believed my relationship was unbreakable – until I discovered he had found someone new. The song weaves themes of betrayal and deception, leading to a bittersweet acceptance that it’s truly over.”
