Everyone made of 2020 what they could. Litvar made it their breakout year, as you do. In all seriousness, we are probably witnessing the early effort of a future music legend. Or, more correctly, future legends: Rex Thurstan (he/they), Violet Falkowski (she/they) and Joe Lemieux (he/they) have indeed managed to build a unique sound, turning heads of industry actors far and wide. It is not hard to see why.
Take their debut for instance: ‘Hi I’m Andy’ carried such charisma and authenticity that made it impossible for listeners to not care deeply. While the band is merely a trio, the musical force they can put together is limitless, partly also thanks to deep, evocative vocals, a big part of their signature sound.
After having signed to indie label Mother West in late 2020, Litvar have consistently toured all over the US while recording new material. ‘You Should Find a New Boyfriend’ signals their latest release and the upcoming album cycle. Marking a definite step up in terms of songwriting and production, the record is the first glimpse of a grown-up version of Litvar, the first evidence of their future greatness.
Widening their scope of action, the group makes use of electronic elements and polite beats, before jumping back into guitar antics around the two minutes mark. What follows is heart-wrenching indie goodness, which conquered us instantly.
