Emerging from Louisiana, singer-songwriter Kate Ellis has made a name for herself thanks to honest storytelling, intense vocals and a knack for authentic Americana vibes. Following up from a rather productive 2022, including the album release ‘Spirals’, Ellis is now kickstarting the next chapter of her artistic journey. It begins with ‘Other Side Of The Street’, a wonderful single that doubles down on Kate’s strengths: relatable and nostalgic material.
Themed around the complex nuances of human relationships, ‘Other Side Of The Street’ is a bittersweet love song that speaks to the power of love and its lasting presence, even when we may want it to leave. Ellis’ smooth yet evocative vocals are a true heart-warming potion, wrapping the listener into fictional solace. The record was written by Tom Hackwood, a musician friend of Kate’s long-time collaborator, and the song has a vibrant new music video that captures the colourful look of city life in a vérité style.
While the track was included in last year’s album, Ellis is not planning a special release on vinyl on 24th February 2023, which includes a special bonus track. The album has already been met with critical acclaim, with praises from Americana UK and Folk Radio UK, among others.
