The keen reader will remember talented producer and songwriter Amberlind, thanks to a previous feature we did for his previous efforts ‘Reasons’. His prowess for catchy songwriting and viral melodies was already clear: so much so that we described him as “not afraid to try new sonic combinations, to explore his songwriting, to walk away from the beaten path.”
Earlier this month, Amberlind returned with yet another EDM gem, this time in collaboration with producer and songwriter Behmer, and singer B3nte. While the latter provides the vocals, it is to the former two that we owe the birth of a glorious banger, a track that we are confident will be a hit. In fact, in a week and a half, ‘The Captain Down Below’ has already amassed nearly 200k streams on Spotify. That’s both crazy and a testament to Amberling pop genius.
Blending EDM with epic Pirate music, Behmer and Amberlind create a sound that’s as fresh as they come. Their trick? Playful melodies that stick around the listener’s mind for hours. Production is also on point, never overpowering the instrumental topline. Pitched-down vocals complete a haunting yet charismatic offering.
Describing the process behind writing ‘The Captains Down Below’, Amberlind explains: “I took the melody to skilled producer and artist Behmer who then started to work on it. Behmer choose a piano that he tweaked to an original sound and when I heard it, I thought it sounded like a guy playing on a piano under water.”
