Alutepena Hughes-John Releases Rocky and Thought-Provoking New Single ‘Money, Material, Matters’

“Is having money and material possessions all that matters? And is life worth nothing if you do not have it all?” These are the questions posed in ‘Money, Material, Matters’ – the brand new single courtesy of London-based singer/songwriter Alutepena Hughes-John. Partnering with some super-skilled session musicians, Alutepena concocts an unpretentious and straightforward soundscape, allowing her powerful and thought-provoking message to be heard loud and clear.

Rocky, gritty, and immensely infectious, ‘Money, Materials, Matters’ is unapologetically raw and real. It’s a tune that serves as a powerful vehicle for the artist’s insightful commentary, as she urges the listener to reflect on life’s true values.

Honest, impactful, and deeply sincere, it’s the type of music the world could use more of these days, and it sets the musician apart in today’s musical landscape of cookie-cutter and formulaic sounds.

Inspired by many two-tone bands; The Selector, Madness, and The Specials to name a few, Hughes-John also cites Blondie, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Shirley Manson as influential. It’s this wonderfully eclectic blend of guiding lights that gives Alutepena her distinctive and unique sound – a sound we hope to hear more of in the near future!
