Emerging on the international pop scene with fierceness and lyrical intensity, ALF is decisively part of the new generation of talents hitting the airwaves with material that’s poignant, blissful and extremely catchy. In fact, he’s currently thriving on TikTok, a trait that says a lot about the relevance of the project. People seem to relate to ALF in a wholesome way, and frankly, it’s not a surprise. His music is emotional, empowering and meaningful, making it the perfect artistic refuge for such complex times.
‘Gunpoint’ is ALF’s latest effort, a slice of shiny electro-pop with a certain punk-rock flavouring. Stacking emo-inspired guitars and mellow synthetisers over organic drums with electronic references, the record delivers a sound that’s elegant, rebellious and also pretty timeless (courtesy of Alex Quinn). Eventually, ALF’s evocative and nuanced vocals seal the deal, embracing the listeners into unwavering nostalgia and lovable kindness, something that’s particularly welcome during winter times.
Speaking about the record, the British talent explains: “Gunpoint’ is a song that describes the thrill and the adrenaline rush that comes with being in a complicated relationship and having to level with a person to get the outcome you desire, hence the title. I wrote it about not having high expectations to try and avoid personal heartbreak and knowing that the person you love is bound to let you down but the thrill keeps you coming back.”
