Alex Klb Blends Synthwave and Classical Music in ‘Etude in Synth Tone’

There’s something inherently unique in ‘Etude in Synth Tone’. You see, there is a strong synthwave energy, a retro colour that greatly characterises the piece. Haunting arpeggiators drive the tracks forward, while spacious and bright chords create a rather interstellar vibe. With classic drum machines, the record seems to emerge straight from the 80s. The fact is, listen after listen, we are drawn into a poignant and evocative sense of nostalgia and melodrama, especially for some of the harmonic choices, not quite typical of the genre.

Produced by Alex Klb, ‘Etude in Synth Tone’ makes use of classical music compositional values in order to enrich the sonic matter, pushing it into more complex and dynamic territories. The result is quite disorienting, almost as if it came to us from a parallel universe.

Based in the Netherlands, Klb can boast great artistic proficiency, next to an evident visionary flair. We are passengers in his creative journey – and we don’t wish any less. Fully instrumental, ‘Etude in Synth Tone’ is one of the most unique compositions we have heard in a long time. Don’t sleep on it!
