We have been proudly supporting Alex Kate this past year, and frankly, she seems to be improving and getting better with every release. Not only she stays away from mainstream musical solutions, instead pursuing a personal artistic journey towards her unique identity; she’s also crafting heavenly and catchy melodies that champion mesmerising storytelling, rooted in personal experiences and common knowledge.
Now, she’s gearing up for the imminent release of her EP, out October 14th. We are not waiting empty-handed though, as Kate gifted us one last single, the future EP title track ‘Lost in You’, together with a beautiful music video shot in Capetown earlier this year. Changing pace from her previous material, (you might remember ‘One Plus One’), the British talent points the song towards a more electronic-pop direction, although maintaining her signature poignant, evocative style, ofter reminiscing of good, past memories.
Produced by Daniel Newcombe, the song will resonate with listeners worldwide for its cute nature, a rare glimpse of authentic, pure love, a sentiment that today seems long lost. The music video is equally comforting, shot with the artist’s good friend Freddie Reed in the North African desert. Explaining the creative process behind the shoot, Kate explains: “It was actually the most amazing experience shooting in the desert where Africa Burn happens. Freddie Reed the director wanted to encapsulate the feeling of being lost and lonely in the city and at peace and alive in the desert. I think he has done a magical job.”
