We had the pleasure of writing about ALEJ in the past, celebrating past single ‘King of Brooklyn’ as “beautifully showcasing the artist’s masterful arrangement skills and dynamic vocals”. We stand by our words: inspired by the greats of contemporary pop, such as Taylor Swift and Dua Lipa, ALEJ has developed a strong flair for luscious and melodious pop songwriting, a skill he’s certainly put to good use.
‘Dancing with Another Man’ is the perfect evidence of that. A step up from previous releases, the single is way more punchy and intense, sharing a tale of complex romance and melancholia through ALEJ’s evocative and anthemic vocals. Built on a bright, uplifting production, the song delves into modern global pop maintaining a highly relatable character, something that will hopefully attract prospective listeners.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, ALEJ explains: “‘Dancing with Another Man’ was inspired by a time in which I was dealing with a really difficult breakup. As a result, I did what anyone would do when they go through a breakup, and that is stalking their ex on socials (sue me). That was probably a bad decision on my end because what I ended up seeing was a picture of my ex out at a bar with some other guy.”
