Alec Berlin Returns with ‘Beat Confabulator (All Night on the Floor)’

Alec Berlin has been there, done that, and got the t-shirt! From being the lead guitarist in Tony-award-winning plays to sharing the stage with the likes of Elton John, James Taylor, and Rufus Wainwright, the New York-based guitarist has seen it all. Just a few days ago, he released his brand new album called ‘Beat Confabulator (All Night on the Floor)’, his fourth full album. The title track is also the album’s opener, and it’s a seriously crunchy, punchy, and rhythmic tune that Berlin states has “nods to New Orleans, Prince, and Pat Metheny”. The instrumental piece takes you on a sonic rollercoaster of ups and downs, highs and lows, and everything in between!

Berlin says that he likes the challenge of writing music that is absent of any vocals. “I thought it was an interesting avenue for exploration,” he says. I couldn’t agree more! I’ve been listening and connecting to a lot more instrumental music these days than I ever have before.

I must admit…I had a sneaky listen to a few other songs on the album. Berlin’s versatility as a guitarist is spellbinding! I can’t wait to fall deeper into his music.
