Al Shalliker Returns with ‘Six White Horses’

The keen reader might remember British troubadour Al Shalliker. Writing about his previous single ‘Time Out Of Mind’, we proudly celebrated it as “raw and authentic, incredibly vivid and electrifying”. We stand by our words: boasting a truly relatable and minimalistic style, Shalliker focuses on meaningful storytelling and acoustic glory, birthing records that completely capture the listeners’ attention.

‘Six White Horses’ is the biggest evidence of it: Al’s latest effort, the track continues the exciting path towards the project’s upcoming album, ‘The Diamond Hill’. Compared to ‘Time Out Of Mind’, ‘Six White Horses’ is decisively more nostalgic and poignant, delving into evocative melodies and strong Americana vibes. It’s a triumph: the listening experience is absolutely healing, even more so when guided by Shalliker’s vigorous vocals.

Harmonica and acoustic guitars help in making ‘Six White Horses’ the stunning jewel it is. As mentioned in our previous article about Shalliker, it is refreshing to hear such honest and stripped-back storytelling. Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, he explains: “It is a song paying homage to the passing of previous generations and to those that have helped and guided us”.
