AK Patterson Announces Upcoming EP + Stunning Single ‘Juno’

We wrote about AK Patterson back in November, celebrating the haunting, evocative ‘I Don’t Know How To Die’ as “showcasing Patterson’s bright and sapient musical wisdom”. We stand by our words: the London-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist appears to have been gifted an impetuous, potent talent for sonic exploration and aural catharsis, penning honest, unique pieces with an almost mystical quality.

‘Juno’ is the perfect evidence of that. Advancing Patterson’s journey towards her upcoming EP ‘Jailbird’ – expected on March 21st – the single takes a gentler, more positive approach both on a sonic and lyrical level. Embracing a folk-flavoured acoustic livery, AK celebrates self-love and independence, asking listeners to find comfort and support within themselves. Overall, the piece is rather elegant and luscious, not as haunting and gloomy as some of Patterson’s earlier efforts, yet still packed with the same vivid energy – a striking, heart-shaking musical lightning standing tall and proud.

Expanding on the premise behind the song, AK Patterson shares: “This is a breakup song, a kind of anti-love song, a pledge to love yourself over the need to be loved by someone else. I had just moved to London into a grotty little flat. I was quite lonely and isolated, and found myself getting into a relationship that wasn’t right for me.”

We are confident the record will resonate with a lot of folks out there. After all, we all could do with a little more self-love.
