Fuzzy, hazy and rather alternative: ‘portals’ does a good job of introducing us – and the world – to the imaginative, liminal shores of Agora Sci-fi. The project is certainly relevant for its aural goodness, yet the human behind it is also a talented animator and visual artist, allowing the debut single to also boast an eclectic video with a wealth of animations in it. This creates an artistic vision that’s expansive and complete, really showcasing the creative prowess behind American voyager Nathania Rubin.
Namely her first solo project after a past experience in a band, Rubin packs Agora Sci-fi with lots of lush and elegant goodness, perfectly balancing her rock-flavoured, alternative side with digestible and evocative melodies. An EP of five songs called ‘Finding It Hard to Explain Something so Obvious’ will be out in early summer – stay tuned!
